The process of making a digital story:
First, I choose a movie that impressed me most as a objective to rewrite. Then, write the script. I observe the perspective in this movie and rewrite it from a third-person perspective. After that, I watch this film repeatedly to find out more details and make the story more compelling. Finally, I begin to make storyboards and video using apps.
Justify the semotic choice:
I capture some key scenes in the film that help me narrate the story. And I choose the theme song of this film as the background music, which has symbolic significance.
Challenges:
I think the script is the key to telling the story. I make a great effort to complete it. To make the story more compelling and vivid, I need to watch the movie repeatedly and explore the psychology and emotions of different characters. And I also need to think about using what expressions to describe them correctly.
What I have learned:
First, I get a rough idea of how to write a script and accumulate some expressions for vivid description.
Second, I have learned about perspective shifting, which can be applied in my future writing.
Third, I get the hang of making a video basically, which is practical in life.
The benefit of making a digital story:
Compared with traditional writing, a digital story can be more compelling and interesting by taking advantage of various semotic choices. Through pictures, we can expand imaginary space; through background music, we can heighten atmosphere;through narration, we can let the audience be personally on the scene.
Attitude:
I enjoy this form of DMC writing and support it undoubtedly. Times are advancing, and so should the form of storytelling. We should take advantage of technology to make the form of storytelling contemporary.
