- In the first class, I touched this entirely new concept. Actually, I didn't know what is digital multimodal composing exactly at first. But after several classes, I gradually understood the digital multimodal composing is a new style of writing. I think traditional writing is just characters, which is humdrum and can't arouse others' interest. On the contrary, the video presentation is more vivid and absorbed with the help of visually and auditorily semotic choices, which can be widely accepted. But at that time, I don't understand well how to put it into practice. After a few writing exercises, powerpoint presentations and video clips, my practical application ability has improved. I roughly know how to write a script, how to choose appropriate background music, and how to make a video. It will be taken good advantage of in my future life.
- There are two main challenges I have faced. One is writing and the other one is video clip. At first, I didn't know how to write a good writing and I made a great effort to complete it. For example, To make the story more compelling and vivid, I need to watch the movie repeatedly and explore the psychology and emotions of different characters. And I also need to think about using what expressions to describe them correctly. Then I tried to accumulate relevant words and phrases and observe the talk as well as action of characters carefully. With the help of feedback and direction of teacher, I revised my writing several times, it was better obviously than before. Actually, I have never tried video editing and dubbing before. So when I received a task of video clip, I decided to learn some skills of video editing from little red book. And I tried to understand the emotions and changes of the characters in the development of the plot to better dub. And now, I have mastered basic skills.
- Firstly, considering different modes of communication helps us to connect with people across vast distances and time zones. This is especially valuable in today's globalized world, where businesses, friendships, and families often span multiple continents. Whether it's through email, Blog, video conferencing, or social media, we're able to stay in touch and collaborate effectively, despite being physically apart.
Secondly, different modes of communication also influence how we express ourselves and how we're perceived. For example, written communication like emails or text messages allows us to carefully craft our words and convey our thoughts in a more formal or structured manner. On the other hand, face-to-face communication allows us to utilize non-verbal cues like facial expressions and body language, which can add depth and nuance to our interactions.
Furthermore, considering different modes of communication also helps us to be more adaptable and flexible in our communication style. We learn to adjust our tone, pace, and language to suit the needs and preferences of our audience. This is crucial in maintaining strong relationships and fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
In conclusion, considering different modes of communication is essential in today's globalized world. It helps us to stay connected, express ourselves effectively, and build stronger relationships.
- Process: Firstly, I prepared my script according to the theme and make a great effort to put what I have learned into practice. Then I revised several times according to the feedback from teacher including some grammar problems and inappropriate expressions. After that, I took some clips from the movie and edited them. And I chose suitable music such as its theme music as background music. After revising it again, my final work finished.
- There are many rewarding aspects of the course. It introduces a new writing style to us-- digital multimodal composing. It promotes us to update writing style with the development of the times. Apart from it, I also learn some useful expressions from the course, as well as some skills about video clip. Through this course, I think my writing ability has improved. Undoubtedly, i enjoy this form of DMC writing and i will apply this writing style to my future writing continuously. Thank you very much for teachers' guidance!
