The Dragon Boat Festival was originally a summer festival to get rid of plague, and later it was used as a festival in memory of Qu Yuan. Dragon boat racing symbolizes unity and perseverance; eating zongzi represents harmony and prosperity; drinking realgar wine symbolizes health and safety; hanging calamus represents protection and anticipation.
When I think about the Dragon Boat Festival, a particularly memorable moment from my high school years stands out. Unfortunately, for some reason, my school didn't grant us a holiday for this festival, and as a result, I hadn't been home for quite some time. The homesickness grew stronger each day, and one day, I called my family. Occasionally, I mentioned that I missed the delicious rice dumplings we had at home.The very next day, my mom called to let me know that she had the rice dumplings ready for me. Each bite brought me closer to home, reminding me of the countless memories we shared around the dining table.I was truly moved by their thoughtfulness and consideration.
