1、In order to prevent the further aggravation of desertification, the international community has taken a series of prevention and control measures. These include land management and conservation regulations, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, afforestation and adaptation to climate change. In addition, international organizations and non-governmental organizations have carried out many projects to help local communities improve their livelihoods and protect their environment.
2、Desertification refers to the phenomenon of low vegetation coverage and land degradation, which is manifested by drought, wind and sand, and salinization. Desertification occurs mainly in arid and semi-arid areas, such as areas north of the Sahara Desert in Africa, the Middle East and some parts of Asia. Causes of desertification include human activities such as overgrazing, overfarming, mining and urbanization, as well as natural factors such as climate change.
3、The Aral Sea is a famous example of land desertification. Due to irrigation and climate change, the Aral Sea has been shrinking since the 1960s. Once a large inland sea, it has now disappeared completely, leaving behind vast deserts.The Sahel region of Africa is another example of severe land desertification. The area, which borders the Sahara Desert, has experienced significant changes in climate and vegetation. Due to overgrazing, deforestation, and poor agricultural practices, the region has lost much of its once fertile land to desertification.
