I tried to use the first person point of view to narrate Sleeping Beauty, which is my favorite story in my childhood. So in order to create a complete digital story, the first step I took was to search for the details of the story. After this, I found some illustrations about this story online and arranged them in chronological order according to the development of the story. Next, I need to find background music. Considering the happy ending of this story, I used a very warm and pure music. As for dubbing, I believe there may be many mistakes if use my own voice, so I used mechanical dubbing, which is precisely one aspect that I did not consider thoroughly.
For me, converting a story from a third person point of view to a first person point of view ‘s narrative is the biggest challenge. Because Sleeping Beauty is narrated from an omniscient perspective, the first thing I need to do when telling this story from a princess's perspective is to refine many details, which is exactly what I overlooked. I summarized this story in a very simple way, ignoring many details in the princess's life, such as her thoughts when she saw the spindle and her thoughts after thinking about it. Besides, dubbing is also a big challenge for me. Before this, I had never attempted to dub a video, so I did not choose to do it myself.
However, through this experience, I learned how to try to enrich the storyline by changing the narrator's person based on the story content, while also avoiding the blandness and simplification of storytelling. In addition, self dubbing can also help us create a somewhat high-quality digital story. Because it can lead us to truly immerse ourselves in the story and experience the thoughts and emotions of the characters. This is also the difference between digital writing and traditional writing. Traditional writing only requires writing, while digital writing requires pictures or videos, appropriate background music, and the ability to tell stories.
