if you will open file with utf-8,then you need write:

open(file_name, 'r', encoding='UTF-8')

if you will open file with GBK,then you need do:

open(file_name, 'rb')

hope to solve your problem!

For people who are still getting error despite of passing absolute path, should check that if file has a valid name. For me I was trying to create a file with '/' in the file name. As soon as I removed '/', I was able to create the file.

[Solved] OSError errno22 invalid argument

Let us try to understand it with the help of an example. The below code has been executed in python shell to access local files. First, we shall import the pandas file to use read_csv()

1 import pandas as pd

Now, we shall try to access a csv file.

1 file = read_csv("C:\textfile.csv")

The above line of code will raise the below error.

OSError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument: 'C:\textfile.csv'

The reason behind the error is that python does not consider the backslash. Because of that, it showed oserror invalid argument. So what we have to do is that instead of a backslash, we have to replace it with a forwarding slash.

1 file = read_csv("C:/textfile.csv")

Th error has been resolved now.
